You do not need to know “the art industry.” You do not need to be tech-savvy. This workshop is for artists who want to be easier to find, less stressed about their digital presence, and more confident sharing their work online.
We will spend two hours going through a practical checklist together — no jargon, no pressure, just clear steps you can act on the same day.
What You Will Walk Away With
By the end of this session you will have:
- A clear, organized folder structure for your artwork files
- A 100-word artist bio ready to use anywhere
- A single platform chosen and set up for showing your work
- Five of your best works uploaded with proper titles and descriptions
- A professional artist email signature
- The Digital Presence Starter Checklist — a printable one-page handout to keep and revisit
Workshop Agenda
- Welcome and introductions (10 min) — Who is in the room, what are you making, what feels overwhelming right now
- The Digital Presence Starter Checklist (20 min) — Walk through every item together; what it means and why it matters
- File organization exercise (20 min) — Hands-on: structure your artwork folder on your own device while we build the system together
- Bio writing workshop (25 min) — Draft or refine your 100-word bio using a simple template; share and give feedback in pairs
- Platform selection (15 min) — Quick comparison of the main options (Instagram, Behance, personal site, Linktree); choose the one that fits your situation
- Open Q&A and next steps (20 min) — Bring any digital questions; leave with a clear personal action list
Your Digital Presence Starter Checklist
Every participant receives this one-page printable handout. It is designed to be genuinely useful — something you return to, not something you file away.
- Create one main artwork folder on your device
- Back up your artwork (external drive, Google Drive, or iCloud)
- Write a 100-word bio (we do this together in the workshop)
- Choose one platform where your work will live
- Upload your 5 best works with titles and brief descriptions
- Add your contact information wherever your work appears
- Create a simple artist email signature with your name and a link
Who This Workshop Is For
This session is designed for:
- Visual artists, musicians, and makers at any stage of their practice
- Newcomers to Toronto who are building a local presence
- Artists returning to practice after a break or major life change
- Anyone who feels behind on the digital side of their creative life
No prior technology experience is required. You do not need a website, a large following, or a budget. You need a phone or laptop and a willingness to try.
About This Series
This workshop is the first in a growing series of practical technology sessions for creative professionals. Future sessions include:

These workshops are designed to travel. We can bring them to Toronto Public Library branches, Artscape-style organizations, community centres, newcomer arts programs, local galleries, senior programs, and nonprofit cultural organizations.
Watch: Why a Simple Digital Presence Changes Everything
This short talk covers the practical reasons why a clear, consistent online presence helps artists get discovered — and why it does not need to be complicated or expensive.
